Avalanche Warning: J&K Disaster Management Issues Urgent Alert to 6 Districts

Srinagar, January 31: The Jammu and Kashmir Disaster Management department has issued a stern avalanche warning for six districts, anticipating challenging weather conditions in the upcoming 24 hours.

In a recent notification shared exclusively with news agency, authorities have underscored the heightened risk of avalanches across various elevations in these districts.

Specifically, regions situated above 2800 and 3500 meters in Doda and Ganderbal districts are expected to experience avalanches with a low danger level.

Furthermore, the alert extends to areas positioned above 2400 meters in Poonch, Baramulla, Bandipora, and Kupwara districts, where medium avalanche risk is anticipated within the next day.

The announcement comes in response to the prevailing inclement weather conditions, which have heightened the vulnerability of these regions to avalanches.

As a precautionary measure, residents residing in these districts are urged to exercise utmost caution and refrain from venturing into avalanche-prone zones during this period of heightened risk.

Authorities highlighted the importance of adhering to safety measures and guidelines to mitigate potential risks and ensure the safety and well-being of residents in these avalanche-prone areas.
